Wheel Base 70 SB - U-Haul Trailer

I am picking up a 1970 GMC Shortbed truck and will be towing it home with a U-Haul trailer. Just wanting to make sure it will fit on the trailer?

Thanks,

I put my 68 SWB on a u-haul trailer when I took it to get painted. It was a tight squeeze width wise. The tires had to kindof driver over the outer edges.

My truck has disk brakes on it with rallies (for now).

Stock wheels will fit on the trailer no problem. If the truck has a dished aftermarket wheel, that's usually what causes problems.

Hart Rod's, right on the money. I drug #6 from Spokane on a u-haul - it was a LWB 4X4, but the narrow wheels and tires saved me. So have Fun. 1400 miles that's committed! either you are or should be!

Thanks,
I think it may be to wide with the wheels that are on it now. But he has a set of stock wheels/tires that I can swap out.

Re: Wheel Base 70 SB - U-Haul Trailer

They make 2 different width car trailers u-haul uses. Try to get the wider one. Also dont tell them your gonna haul a truck or they wont rent it to you, tell them its for a jeep with wide tires and lastly dont go over 55mph as it will start swaying with you and it will jack-knife you. It will handle the weight with no problem. Make sure you chain it down real good, side to side & front to back. Better safe than sorry.

Re: Wheel Base 70 SB - U-Haul Trailer

I used a u-haul trailer to get my truck with no hauling problems. Again DON"T tell them it is for a truck! I told them it was 69 Nova. I also used one to haul my 94 Corvette to New York and I may have exceeded the posted speed limit with no problems swaying. However stop and check your chains/straps frequently.

Yep, by their rules, a 3/4T truck is too light to pull a Cherokee. I've brought home several '87 Accords in the last few years.....

Re: Wheel Base 70 SB - U-Haul Trailer

I am making a road trip next Saturday to pick up my new "project" and am renting a U-Haul car trailer. I told them it was for a 03 Civic.
1400 miles is a haul. Mine is only 500 each way.
