Swap question! vortec 350(5.7) and 700r4 into 68 lwb
Im thinking about swapping a Vortec 350 from a 97 Tahoe and a 700r4 into my 68 LWB. I know that this has been done so im looking for information about the swap and any problems/tricks that you all know of so that this sway goes easy.
I am also considering keeping the TH-400 in the truck thats in it now but adding an overdrive. Any upsides or downsides to this trans options? any thought greatly appreciated

it's extremely easy and straight forward, that is exactly what I'm running in mine right now. You will need to slide the cross member back. And you will also need to find a lock up system that you like, and also shorten the drive shaft. But other than that it's extremely easy. P.S. If you are going to use the fuel injection that is a little bit trickier, but still not hard at all.

are you going to use a 700r4, or a 4l60e that comes behind it?
If you keep the fuel injection, then the computer for that will also run the shifting for the 4L60E. Putting an OD unit on a TH400 will be way more expensive than a OD tranny. |
