I guess you could seal the air cleaner to the hood but youd either have to be running a tunnel ram or build yourself a foot tall box. Its quite a gap from the hood to the carb. In either event the cowl hoods are not set up like real cowl hoods are with a cut out for the air box and ducting to the plenum.

those cowl hoods look way better on 67-68 then they do on 69 and up, the hood flows into the scoop better on the 67-8's. Up here i havent seen one on any other 67-72, hopefully I can have my truck done and be the first with the hood so I don't look like a follower

My Cowl

Here is mine! The cowl is fiberglass but the hood is steel. I wanted my cowl to be a little bit taller than the 2 inch that is being offered. Mine is 4 1/2 tall. It may interfere with the passenger side windsheild wiper with the hood all the way open. I'll find out for sure after I get the windsheild in.

Here's mine. I know you asked for steel hoods but I like the 4 inch better than the short steel ones myself. Although the look on WES's panel looks great. The 4 inch does interfere with the passenger wiper when opening but if you are careful its no problem. Not a real good pic, sorry.
