Need opinions on scoop

I have never seen this type of scoop on anything without a blower but I have always liked the look of them and decided to throw one on. Are there any reasons why I shouldn't be using this style? I like it alot more than what I had on before but I wanterd to see what other opinions are.

Re: Need opinions on scoop

That is one of the things I was wondering about. It came with an air cleaner but it's only like 6" round. Will that let enough air get to the motor?

Re: Need opinions on scoop

I recall a Horsepower TV show where they were testing different size air filters. They were very suprised to find the most HP made was with a little 5" round filter. Something about it causing the air to be pulled in with more volocity.

I think the only down side is it will get dirty and clog quicker. Just swap them out more frequently and you should be good.

Re: Need opinions on scoop

I kinda agree but it's pretty cool, I wouldn't do this sort of setup without the huge supercharger with the blower with the huge pulley sticken up but thats just me

Re: Need opinions on scoop

They do fine with it sucking fresh air and the scoop being out a hole in the hood, I don't like the look though.
Under the hood it will be a big heat trap and rob some power vs a open element

Re: Need opinions on scoop

there is only one........

For me, that look will only work on a blown and injected outlaw type car or older nitro motor.

I have just never liked ANY scoop on a single carb though. Only writing this because you asked. Remember though, if you like it then roll with it. A lot of guy think it's stupid to have the motor hanging out of the hood. I, of course, do not agree!!! lol
