Re: attn longhorn owners
IIRC a longhorn is a is lwb truck with a six inches added on to it to so the bed would be 8.5ft to accomadate the biggest slide in camper at the time.

Re: attn longhorn owners
not a dumb question at all, they only made 25,442 chevy longhorns and no idea how many of the GMC custom Camper trucks. You've probably seen one, but didn't know since it looks like "just another 8 lug truck".
6 inches added to the front of the bed, and also to the wheelbase. Check out my website; http://www.longhorntrucks.freeservers.com/ Last edited by Longhorn Man; 09-01-2009 at 09:43 PM. |

Re: attn longhorn owners
camper special was a ford untill 73 when the square body truck was born.
The custom camper on a chevy was an option package that was nothing more than HD shocks springs tires, and a sway bar. On the GMC side of the house, Custom Camper could either mean the option package as described above, or, it could mean 8 1/2 foot bed (longhorn) truck. |

Re: attn longhorn owners
The only 9 foot bed I ever saw was a step side. Not really a Longhorn, but people will argue.

Re: attn longhorn owners
the one ton stepside is not a longhorn, all lo nghorns were fleetside, and you are right, people will argue like you wouldn't believe.
The one ton step side also sits in the 133 inch wheelbase. |
