Grille ?

I have just recently bought what I've been told was a titled 72 with a 67 front clip. It was described to me that the hood, grille(with markers), and maybe the fenders (there are no side markers) are 67 model. My question is can i install another grille and if so what year? I really like the 72 style(egg crate). The truck is red and with the front painted red as well its just to much for me

Re: Grille ?

I believe the 1967 and 68 grills will only work with those year fenders... If you change the grill to a 72 you will need fenders for that year... And if i remember right certain years are different for chevy and gmc... check out the lmc truck catalog that will give you years and makes that will work for a 72 grill

Re: Grille ?

Nice truck and welcome from Pensacola! You basically need an entire front clip. Good thing for you if you decide to do the swap, is that you can easily sell yours......after you become a paying member that is, . Good luck.

Just an idea, but you made be able to trade with someone looking to do the same thing, but in reverse.

Re: Grille ?

The previous owner had a 2 inch body lift put on this truck so the front bumper needs to be lifted 2 inches and that would help alot as well. I have been enjoying the ideas please keep them coming.

I would bet you could trade even up with someone on the board! I like the 67-68 myself.

Re: Grille ?

That's a real pretty truck. Why change it? As you've already read on previous post's the change to a 72 front clip is extensive and expensive. If you got a shop and can get parts cheap then go for it. But if your like me with limited resources, keep what ya got. Just my .02

Re: Grille ?

Does someone have a picture of a red truck with the grille painted white? That would look a lot better. All red is too much red for me it may be better to also consider painting the roof white when you paint the grille.imo

Re: Grille ?

Early Classic Enterprises did a resto on a '68 that has a red/white paint job. Check out www.earlyclassic.com for pix. At the top of their home page on the left side is a color "action" shot of their truck. There are links you can also follow to the magazine articles that were published as they did the resto. Pix are in B/W, though.

Re: Grille ?

Oh how the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. That is what I want my 67 to look like someday, as that is it's original paint scheme. Also note that your bed lacks side markers making it a 67 too. At first I liked the 71-72s better and then the 67-68s grew on me. If you lived in Ohio I would swap you parts from my 72 lol.

Perhaps you would feel better with your grill painted white.

Re: Grille ?

If you go 69-72 front clip you will also have to either shave the marker lights in the front or add them to the bed since the bed doesn't have them.
