Re: My turn at "My truck on Ebay"

I think the value will come with the pic of the SPID. What the heck is a "GAGE TACHOMETER" those must be rare.

Re: My turn at "My truck on Ebay"

I guess I'm looking pretty good with my stock build if I ever get rid of it

Its a very nice truck and he may have that in it for sure...but there is no way he will get it!.....I'm guessing more in the $22 to $25k range

Re: My turn at "My truck on Ebay"

I hate fake SPID's. If you have a crappy one, and you replace it with one that looks that bad, you need to back up your options. Post a pic of the build sheet, or even the old SPID. I see a SPID like that, and there is NO WAY I am bidding on it.

Re: My turn at "My truck on Ebay"

All that work to go as original as posible, and they messed it up by putting late model wheels on it. I would have stuck with the original steel wheels.

Oh, and lose the friggin incorect valve covers.

Geeze all that time and money put into this by someone that is supposed to be a well known resto guy, and they had to put personal touch upgrades on it...

Just me nitt pickin...

For 39K I don't call that nitt pickin. Wonder what else is "not exactly" correct?

Re: My turn at "My truck on Ebay"

What else is wrong?
- Cruise Control switch
- Speedwarning (67-69)
- Vacuum Gauge (c-60 item)
- Disc Brakes decal (Believe it's only a 71' thing)
Just some more nitpicking, but overall, it is still a very nice truck. I would drive it, even if it isn't what it says to be. Heck, mine has some added options that I have done to it.

Re: My turn at "My truck on Ebay"

That thing is the bomb!!! I don`t know,I feel like any criticism would be like turning down a perfect "10" woman because her toe nails aren`t trimmed perfectly.
I`ve never seen an Olive interior in a black truck.I always wanted to see that.I don`t care if it`s "as built" by GM or not. It`s as close to buying a new dream 4wd SWB as it gets. That`s the kind of customizing I like.It could bring that money if it`s a s good as it appears.I`ve seen it happen before.People see Jerry Browns trucks, fall in love, comment on the price, then someone with the money buys it.Some people don`t have to count their money. It`s not fair!

Tim, the truck is Dark Green. So you have yet to still see black exterior with green interior. Trevor

Regarding the price, consider this, IF you already had a '72 short fleet 4X4 Cheyenne super (doesn't everybody have one in their back yard?), it would cost you $40,000 to build it to like new as this one appears to be. Now, for the same $40,000, you can buy a NEW 4X4 loaded (brand of your choice) and, when it's paid for in 5 years, it's worth $20,000 (maybe) and in 10 years it's worth $5000 (maybe). The '72, in 5 years is still worth $40,000 and in 10 years, still $40,000, likely more. Also consider that nobody will give a second glanse to the NEW $40000 4X4 that looks just like every other new $40,000 4X4 but you drive around in that '72 and you'll keep the chiropractors in business as people throw their neck out doing a double take. You'll also meet some of the best people that will just come up to you out of the blue to see and talk about your truck. You won't get that with a 2009.

Re: My turn at "My truck on Ebay"

I wonder if I gave this guy his asking price he`d throw in an eye exam and resulting pair of glasses.Hmmm...maybe the truck isn`t even nice looking.
Well,at least in my mind I know what black with olive "would" look like.

What stood out to me is that the truck had Alaska tags, but it is listed as being in Arizona. Scam???

Btw: I love the fake SPID!!

What`s a gages? That same number on my truck indicates gauges. At least they didn`t list a tack.Reminds my of the tattoo I got that was spelled wrong.

The only thing I see wrong with it is the opening bid. If the economy wasn't so tight, that truck might bring 39k. I just don't see anyone pulling the trigger on a 39k opening bid.

Re: My turn at "My truck on Ebay"

A very good point.A lower opening bid with a reserve would make more sense. It`s quality enough that the unknown factor of the reserve won`t scare off those who are players.Either they would bid it up to what it`s worth or it would stay where it is.

Re: My turn at "My truck on Ebay"

That is a really nice truck. I think he is prob. in the right neighborhood with the price and he has some rare parts there, original to the truck or not. It would be tough to build that truck for less than $15 grand and if he had someone do it for him he prob. has $26 grand in it. I would have to see receipts etc. which should not be a prob. if the truck is as nice as it looks. Opening bid is where he messed up, but remember there were only around 7000 short fleet trucks built in 72, so it is rare, as long it is not a cut down he might get the $39 large for it. JMO
