slop in front a arms
I bought some stock arms and front end parts from a guy on this site and it all came off a 67 1/2 ton. (I have a 71 half ton)
I got everything on and the rivet that hold the lower cross shaft in place is smaller than the hole in the cross shaft. when i tore all mine out i never really looked at it and wondered if that is normal slop or if it should fit tight into place. also i don't have the lower cross shaft u-bolts tight yet if that makes a difference? I also noticed that the cross shafts for the upper arms are a little different as well. it looks like the shaft is bigger in diameter and where the nut would hold it against the frame the cross shaft is concaved a little instead of mine that are flat???(if that make sense) any help is greatly appreciated!!! |

Re: slop in front a arms
it is supposed to be concaved there should be part on the frame that is concaved the other direction so when you put shims in between in it smashes them together , as for the bottom it is not an exact fit there is a little room it will be fine when you tighten it up
