OK folks, here are the before and after photos of the ‘76 I acquired a week and a half ago. What started out as a really bad looking truck now looks like just a bad looking truck. I removed the topper, running boards, rear bumper, all four mismatched wheels and tires, and seat. I got four tires free (60% tread left) and mounted them on some Rally wheels I had collecting dust in my garage, I put in a battery (also free), I got a mid 80’s bench seat from the junkyard (perfect shape) to replace the half eaten by mouse seat that was in there, put in a new battery (didn’t come with one) and new alternator (old one was shot), changed out the broken bezel for a newer one that wasn’t broken, changed the oil and air filter, replaced all burned out bulbs, and cleaned the truck real well. I also have an aftermarket rear diamond plate bumper for the truck (not pictured) that will be put on. This truck has some cool features such as front sway bar, factory wood bed floor, fancy interior with wood grain trim, sliding rear window, front bumper guards, and ¾ ton rear suspension. The truck runs excellent (350/350/12 bolt) and everything works, the body is not too good and there are two holes in the floor, but is looks good from 15-20 feet away. How much should I sell it for now? I am guessing it is worth at least $800, so I am going to put a sign in the window for $950 OBO…what do you guys think?

$66.00 sold interior trim on E-bay
$.78 change found in truck

= $66.78 returned to me

Some other stuff I gained throughout the whole process was…

- 2 standard truck rims (for my trip to Bonneville in Yeller)
- aftermarket AC equipment
- rear outer bumper brackets
- 4x10 speaker brackets (parts person gave them to me when I purchased the seat)

This was a fun project and if I didn’t need to make some cash I would definitely keep it, thanks for any input and hopefully you guys enjoyed reading about it as much as I did farting around with it!!

Too bad you can't bring it down to Texas. You'd probably get about 300 or 400 more! Hey, but even if you sell it for $800, that's a nice little profit margin!

Great job on the truck, I'd like to get my hands on that wood floor fleetside bed, those are cool.

I don't know about your accounting though, that's how the car magazines like to do it. Unless your wheels, rear bumper and oil and filter were free, you have a little more into it.

Good luck with it, looks like a nice truck and should be pretty easy to sell.

Joe, the wheels and rear bumper were free, I did pay for the oil and filter but since i have been driving it I didn't figure it into the cost.

Ryan, the 12 bolt is a one legger, not sure about the gear ratio either...

For $800 you can have it...rear, engine, tranny and all.

Hell, for 800 dollars, it's a good part truck. Engine and tranny alone. Then, you could sell off the wood bed for a good price too! If I was only single and had money.

the wood in the bed is SHOT...to the point it is falling out as I drive!! The strips aren't in tooo bad of shape...but the bed really isn't worth anything the way it sits.

Well, I was just thinking of the uniqueness of the bed. You can always cut your own or buy wood kits from Mar-k for a decent price. But, I see what you're saying.

Damn Jeff if it was closer I'd tell my brother in law to buy it. He wants something other than his bike right now. You got a heck of a deal. I'd try for $1500 and go down from there. That's a good looking work truck for sure. Just throw some plywood in the bed then you're set

A little off topic here, but a guy I work with bought a repo-d 96 (i think) Dodge Ram 3/4 ton w/ V10. When repo'd the engine was being pulled. It has had damage to the front end. He now has it running, with a new hood (not og), new front bumper w/ plastic (also not og). Truck looks great and runs great all for just over $1700. He got himself a pretty good deal.

I think $950 is a good price. I had an '83 C20 that I sold for a thousand dollars, it was in about the same overall shape as yours. Mine had less rust, but it was beat up even more. The interior wasn't nearly as good as yours, and not much of anything worked. It had a worn out 350 that kept fouling plugs due to shot rings, but it was a 3/4 ton that started and ran, and would pass inspection. Those four qualites alone made it worth a grand.
