1969 3/4 front disc conversion ?'s
I hate posting a commonly asked question.
Whenever i search, all just see 1/2 ton conversions using 3/4 ton 73+ parts. So.. My '69 custom/camper has terrible 4 wheel drums. Is there a simple bolt on conversion using factory parts from a donor disc brake chevy? simple: will 73-+ 3/4 ton parts bolt up

yup,
you will have to drill one hole in each side of the frame if you want to save time by doing the entire crossmember/suspension swap. i swap to the newer motor mounts when i did mine and it pushed my motor back 1" so you will have to redrill the crossmember for the tranny if you do that. |

Here's a picture of my current project.1970 one ton dually.I bought the complete front cross member out of a 1984 one ton.Swapped right on and basically had to drill a couple of holes.I should have it running this week.....

i will be doing it as well, same as above, complete dualy front suspension swap, shouldnt take more than a weekend.

So, since the motor mounts bolt to the frame, i can keep the motor in there, right? A lift would help a bunch it looks like. I bet i can get the parts for cheap from a junkyard. Thanks guys. Do some of the holes line up, to better aide me in the drillin of the new ones?

all of the holes will line up except the top front hole on the upper a arm bracket, you can install the entier clip then drill the hole, you cant screw it up.
search up trkklr77, he did a good pic thread on the swap. you will most likely need to yank the motor because the motor mounts bolt to the frame and the cross and the weight of the motor will pull and mess with all kinds of stuff when un supported. |

Since I don't have an overhead shop hoist, to keep from pulling the engine when swapping crossmembers, I cut a board the right length to sit on the hood lip on top of the fenders. It's a very strong area of the fender. Set the board on that lip and use a ratchet strap to hold the engine up while you remove the two bottom engine stand bolts and crossmember. This keep you from having the engine hoist legs in your way under the truck or a jack under the oil pan.
