How low is LOW with a static drop?
I've decided with ECE 2 1/2" spindles and 1" coils up front and a leaf flip kit in the back, that my truck is just not low enough. I have a CPP C-notch in the back, and can soon pull a leaf or two or add a different shackle, but what about the front? I will be ordering 20's soon and want to get the ride height sorted out before to make sure I don't have rubbing issues. The frame and control arms and steering are all bone stock 72 stuff.
So those of you with the front ends in the weeds, show me what you got and tell me how you got it. Thanks!

Re: How low is LOW with a static drop?
I've had a bunch of truck with 2.5 spindles and 2 inch coils. Pics posted on here in the past 7 years. You can drive one anywhere, anytime. You can let your girlfriend drive it without worry, Whatever.
I've had a few with 2.5 spindles and 3 inch coils and they can get a bit worrisome. I drove my last 72 short bed 100k miles lowered 5.5 front 6 rear, but you will hit the control arms against the ground at times. If the road has a good hump in the center of the lane, you will likely rub it. After 100k miles, both of my lower control arms were beat back on the front flange a lot (like over an inch). If you put your wife or girlfriend driving it, they better be pretty watchful.

Re: How low is LOW with a static drop?
Thanks guys! I've decided to step it up to a 3" coil up front and do a 2" shackle in the back to achieve a new look.

Re: How low is LOW with a static drop?
I'm pretty much decided to go with 3" springs/2.5" spindles up front and add a 2" shackle to my flip kit out back. Is anyone running 20's with a setup like this? And how wide/what backspace?
I have a 27" tall tire on my 3 1/2" front drop and they rub as they're wide (15x8 with 4" bs and 255/70/15). I'd like to go lower with 20's and not rub. Possible? Thanks!

4/3-sh
I do more offroading than most lifted trucks plenty fine. Just stay out of ruts and the x-member won't hit the dirt. Last edited by texanidiot25; 09-18-2009 at 03:03 AM. |

Re: How low is LOW with a static drop?
Duceducenine, do you have front inner fenders, and if so do the tires ever rub em, and what size rubber do you run?
