1975 BB Blazer advice
I have found a 1975 Blazer with a 454BB & a TH400 in it. The body is pretty straight and it runs OK. Might need a carb rebuild? Charcole canister is there but not hooked up? He says he has the A.I.R. pump? I think it is a mid 80's BB and all of the emmision stuff is off the engine. It has the EGR and plugs in the manifolds for the A.I.R. tubes still installed. I live in Maricopa county(Goodyear,AZ) and was wondering if it would be to much of a hassle to try to get it to pass emissions. The guy that has it for sale has it registered in Mohave county so there is no emissions for it in Mohave county. Mohave county is in northwest AZ.He is down here for work and should be gone by next month. I am pretty shure that 1975 was the first year for cats to be run? I need some opinions please. Didn't think to see if the cats were there.

Re: 1975 BB Blazer advice
yes cats were started mid 74's to be honest with you i would not take on the hassle, your going to have to run cats, put all the emmission stuff back on the motor! or you can just get a po box up in northern az and register it there!

Re: 1975 BB Blazer advice
I've owned 3 k5 blazer two 77's and one 78, they did not have cats and were not required. My sons 77 w/ a 400 cid has no cats. I lived in phoenix in the heart of Maricopa County, he lives in Anthem also in Maricopa County. There is also a website that you can go to on maricopa County and see what emissions are required.

Re: 1975 BB Blazer advice
The key is the axle weight 6500 lbs and above not required, below required. If he has a 2wd, which was not specified then he may need cats, if its 4wd he's above the 6500 lbs and does not need them. I have a 78 3/4 ton that has not cats, came from the factory that way. It has a 454 and always passes emission right in the heart of phoenix.

Re: 1975 BB Blazer advice
Yeah, I have two 4wd 77's that originally had dual exhaust and I don't believe either had cats originally. I had a '79 2wd Blazer with single exhaust, and IIRC, it had a factory cat.
