then a reminder... selling through PM is not permitted.
Your specific post in this thread has been reported and looks a whole lot like PM sales.

It is my understanding that it is against the rules to sell something listed in a classified ad through pm..... correct me if I'm wrong and please quote the rules if possible

you can't police the PM's can you?

Re: want and looking for..

I just read through the forum rules and guidelines, and there is nothing that says I can/can not pm another member about a product for sale of not. If there is a rule to be set then I will abide by it like all the others rules that I follow while being a member on this forum.

I see, well I would expect the same treatment throughout the forum, I admit I didnt see the rule, and will not continue to dishonor it.

Thanks to Joe... taken from the rules...

"III. All sales must be posted in thread, a reply stating who is in line is also suggested. Accepting sales via

Seems pretty basic to me, esp the part where Josh says that sale PM's are STRICTLY prohibited.

Sorry if it seems that way. You are not the only person who has questioned the rules regarding PM sales. I am not attacking you or trying to make an example out of your posts. I really appreciate your acknowledgement of the rules and consider this matter dropped. I only left the posts so that perhaps others who read this can be helped to understand why the rules are the way they are.

Let's get back to helping 77"kroper find a place to get a roll pan!

Hmm... The rules only applies to PM sales in classified ads only huh? But somehow it would be OK outside the classified area??? I would suspect that sence the only place you can sell items is IN the classified area, I would say that PM sales are a no-no period. (Thats why the rules say that ALL information has to be placed within the thread itself.) If ONCE you have agreeded to buy an item via posts, THEN you can exchange payment information and shipping location in a PM. Or better yet, a phone call.

This is nothing more than trying to find a way around the rules. These rules were created to prevent as much as possible unwelcome spam. I for one, am very grateful for the rules as this makes for an enjoyable place for everyone without unwelcome spam posts.

Please consider becomming a member, it takes allot of time and money to keep this place running and then you can post for sale ads in the classified section without worrying. Well worth it in my opinion.

D

PS. As far as staff being able to read your PM's... I always figured that if you are doing something you shouldn't, that is always the time you get caught. Is it worth it?

Sorry for the thread jack. I do plan on paying for a membership, but money is not where I would like it to be at this time.

No worries. No-one will pressure you to become a member. We appreciate members who are willing to help keep this site going even if they cannot become a supporting member. I see you posted while I was writing a resonse to your question. I figure I will leave it up for other members to read so if they have questions about this subject they can get a clearer answer.

Thanks!

point taken, I guess I never thought about it like that.....I was unsure
I have had people, out of the blue, pm me to ask if I had this or that....or if i know anyone who does....so I guess if I sell them something, or give them info to buy from someone else, it is breaking the rules?

I'm really not trying to beat a dead horse, or be argumentative, it just seems like a lot of gray area, and I would like to be perfectly clear on the subject
