Late model frame

Hi everyone new to the site but just like everyone here ive liked these yr model trucks every since i could remember ive had a 72 4x4 a 69 step side and a 70 model step side wanted so badly to fix them up but was to young and didnt have the money. Well im older now and have just got a 67 swb that i want to make a reality. But enuff about me has this ever been done or would it be just a major hassle to put my 67 on a 91 2wd frame and keep the ps/pb or this is just unheard of i have the mind set that anything is possible but i wanted to ask someone who knows more about doing things like this or maybe know of a thread on this site doing this any info or comments or opions would greatly be appriciated thank yall in advance

Welcome from FT Worth TX. I know someone on here has done this. I believe the wheelbase is the same but the later frame is wider than your 67 frame. It may be just a matter of building new body mounts. But not sure

Thats what i was thinking that i would have to build more mounts which would'nt be a problem just didnt know weather the the parts would line up the same as far as core support and such maybe someone has done this and could give me the whole rundown

From Lake County California! I have no experience with this either but some weeks ago a similar thread came up with a guy who wanted to use an early to mid 90's frame on a 67-72 truck and I recall that most members including Longhorn man said it was an incredible hassle and probably wasn't worth it. If your like me with limited tools and no garage, I would say forget it. If you have access to a full professional garage, lots of time and experienced people to help, go for it and post some pictures of your progress.

You can swap the whole a-arm assembly onto the`70 frame.There`s really no advantage to using the later frame.You can swap later parts onto the original frame.

Thanks alot guys i was just wanting to know how much of a project it was gonna be and i dont really have the garage or the experiance to pull that off. I do have access to a 71 model donor truck with pb/ps that i could rob parts from so i'll just go that route i'll be sure to post pics when i get started and thanks again for the replys

Just in case it helps your searching, you can also use the front suspension from a 73-87 truck/burb. I prefer 73-80 models because they were all 1.25" HD rotors. From 81-87 you could get optional 1.00" light-duty rotors & sometimes it's difficult to tell what's what when searching through a wrecking yard.

I am working on a 72 on a 78 frame right now and the thing that you have to watch is the late model frames sweep up further forward than the ones for our trucks. This is ok for a 4x4 but on a 2wd it is going to result in either some body lift or some major cab modifications.
