So it begins.. Again..
Hey Guys,
What im dealing with: HELL So here it goes. I am finally starting to get my ride together. Got my frame all clean and just purchased a dropmember from PB. I going to start resembling everything next week. Do any of you guys know where to get new bolts for putting all back together. I have new cab / frame mounting hardware. I need to find a good place to get all the bolts for the front. Thanks! Last edited by c10Mang; 10-01-2009 at 11:52 PM. |

Re: So it begins.. Again..
Honestly...my favorite spot for hardware is OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware)....You have those down there ??
I prefer them to HomeDepot....more items.

Re: So it begins.. Again..
Years ago I lived in CA when OSH opened a new store and I went crazy buying new nuts and bolts and tossing out all the old rusty coffee cans of junk fasteners. If your neighborhood has one it's a good place to shop.
Years later, my son lived in Sacramento and there is an industrial supply store that sells various grade bolts and nuts by the pound. It's even cheaper and they have grade 2, 5 and 8. Here in the Northwest we have Big R and they also sell by the pound. I'd suggest a Google search for industrial fasteners in your area, and find one that sells retail. That might provide the best pricing. |

Re: So it begins.. Again..
Totally Stainless is a good choice, but I also use a place called Metal By The Foot, in Kansas City, MO. They are a small, locally owned, metal & hardware parts house. Most major metro areas have a retailer like them.
Here is another choice: http://www.hillcofasteners.com/ |

See if you know anyone with an account with Grainger, they have just about every nut and bolt you can think of.

Re: So it begins.. Again..
Well, gettin closer.. Here are some pix of what is going on.
First off, got my PorterBuilt DM installed, with my rack, and engine. Second, I am putting my ride back together on Sunday, and it was still in a bunch of pieces all different colors and primers. I have the paint, but I could not find anyone to paint it or get it moved to a booth. So I said screw it, I do it myself... I don't know anything about painting, but am learning fast I went to Home Depot and got a paint gun for 60 bucks, got some reducer and went to work. Me and my buddy prepped the garage that I am renting. Did not tell anyone that I was painting it, no one has said anything about the fumes yet.. I am going for a satin looking finish. It is kinda turning out ok so far, going to wet sand some pieces that look a lil funky tomorrow. |

Cool of you to be considerate about the property your renting. Going that extra mile speaks alot about your character! Nice job too . . ....

Re: So it begins.. Again..
Dude, I hope you're wearing more than a dust mask when you spray. That looks like a tight garage and ventilation is key. If you have any paint questions do a search at autobodystore.com/forum . Everything I've learned has been from the old pros over there and they know their stuff. That being said, nice work.
