4WD conversion
I really want a 4x4 but i also really love my truck. has anyone made their 2wd to 4wd? What all has to be done? It probably won't be for a long time if ever but it's cool to think about it.

The best way is to find a 4x4 rolling chasis. The cab has to be modified to a high hump if your truck is an automatic. Just take thwe body of your 1 wheel drive truck and put it on the 4x4 frame.

Find a frame (same wheelbase as yours) with axles, t-case and tranny and swap your body over. I'll be doing this to a 72 sub when the weather gets a little nicer . It's all sitting here, waiting.

There's an outfit here in Colorado that will convert 2wd trucks to 4wd. You can look locally to see if someone does it in your area. I have also seen it done in a 4wd magazine. But by the time you get the donor parts, it will become an exspensive project. My 68' was 2wd. I did as the posts above mention....found a 67-72 donor chasis. It is a simple conversion. I would go this route, but know you have options. Good luck! |

To be honest, I don't remember. It's been three years since I looked into it. If I can find info somewhere, I will post. |

conversion
i converted a 71 2wd,to a 4wd,wasnt real bad if you are very mechanical,i actually used the drivetrain off a 88 blazer, and was surprised how well everything fit,the hardest thing to find was a 67-72engine crossmember,i recently, sold the truck and told the guy what i had done, and he didnt believe me,tookme about 40hrs,and lots of patience, welder, grinders, air chisels, and some strong backs, the worst parts was cutting the stuff off the blazer, but it was only 500 bucks, for the whole thing, the only other cost was driveshafts, hey, good luck, iwish you lived closer,id help, ive done3 full conversion and enjoyed everyone.
