Need some salvage auction advise.
A while back I ran across a 69 or 70 SWB 2WD chevy truck that was mildly wrecked on the drivers side bed. I actually saw it on a car hauler with other cars that were really wrecked bad. After calling the number off the car hauler's door I found out that the truck was totaled (not hardly) and that it was going to be auctioned for salvage. Well I have the date of the auction but I can't enter without a salvage license. I'm trying to hook up with a guy I know that has a salvage yard but I'm not sure if that will work. I figured that a salvage yard could buy that truck real cheap. I guess I could always bicker with the yard that buys the truck. Anyone had a similar situation?

I used to work for a salvage yard, and know dealers that go to dealer only auctions all the time. If the guy you know will do it, he can buy the truck and sell it to you for whatever he wants. Salvage yards will buy or sell anything they can make money on. It would help when you go to buy it if you know how much the yard paid for the truck. Then at least you can tell them you know what they gave for it and how much they are making on the deal. My experience with most salvage yards is CASH MONEY talks real loud. You will probably end up with a salvage title with the truck, which won't affect your ability to liscense it, as long as the cab numbers match the title, but it may hurt the resale because alot of people are scared of a salvage title due to being mis-informed.
