Are air bags legal?
I was wondering if bagging our trucks is legal, I ask this because i need to get a safety inspection done on my truck when I ready to register it due to its age..
I need know if I should put on coils until the inspection is done or can i just go straight to airbags.. It may be different in certain places, but here in Alberta I'm not really sure if it is or not... I know you can have bags on trucks with existing front and rear suspension to help with heavier loads etc... thanks! |

Yeah you're right, each state is different...so call the shop that you are taking yours to and ask them. They are legal in TX if that helps..lol

Re: Are air bags legal?
Check your local DOT, but I have never heard of air suspension being illegal. There are many cars, trucks, motorhomes and commercial trucks that run air suspension.

Re: Are air bags legal?
In certain states, having any parts below a certain height can be illegal while in motion.

Re: Are air bags legal?
best best is check ur own state. I wouldn't think so since 18 wheelers run them all the time. the only problem I see is leaving it too low when u go to do your inspection

Yeah certain height is key in most states to low can get you a ticket it all depends the cop tho.But never act up and give them a reason to pull you over. But yes find out what your state laws are ask a cop or dmv.

Re: Are air bags legal?
I've played with my switches while around cops. It may be illegal if at a higher, unsafe rate of speed. Cops saw me air up and down but I was around 30mph on a side street, not doing 70 on the interstate.
