Beautiful 67 SWB on CL.....or not so much
First time I saw this truck I was pretty impressed until I started looking closer... So lets play whats wrong with this truck....Go to the link for better and more interesting pics...Its actually a shame as it looks like a pretty nice ride and I'm sure quite a bit of money has been spent on it.
I'll start it off with an easy one....'67s dont have side markers.....TAG your it!!! http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/ctd/1427471391.html

Re: Beautiful 67 SWB on CL.....or not so much
It's possible it was a very late 67 that got the "new" 68 cab and fenders.
...or it could be totally pieced together. That's a heck of a nice truck!

looks like a fine truck to me. i like the moldings on the hood edge and fender fronts. mine are going back on. only thing i see is maybe bad pic but left cab corner looks goofy. and i dont like the idea of that big of lowering blocks

Yeah the blocks are what really turned me off, besides the cut frame. I think those are actually trailing arm ends that have been stacked up for blocks. Makes a flat tire an interesting experience with the arms down that low.....

Not the correct park brake for a 67. I just love the stacked control arms.

I do have a question...in his web site it states this truck is "Fully Restored" ... When one restores a vehicle does it need to be restored to the factory original specs or is a resto mod considered a "Fullly Restored" vehicle? I never gave it much thought until I saw the ad...

Did any SBC come with an oil filler in the front? The only motors I'm familiar with that do are Olds.

Yes, most '68 and earlier did, both cars and trucks.

Once y'all get done bashing this truck, please post a picture of yours so we can criticize it as well.

Re: Beautiful 67 SWB on CL.....or not so much
wow you guys are tough.
First I am not defending the truck or the guy as I dont know either. I dont see the welded frame? The lowering blocks are just one section of the trailing arms I am betting there are alot of others lowering this much with blocks on here, it does not seem that extreme. Maybe there is enough clearance on the track bar. Mine is really close but the end that the exhaust is close to is mounted to the body as is the exhaust so they are moving together, should be enough. Your right the cab is a newer one but that is better to find a good cab than try to fix a rusty one. Anyway sorry for the short rant, I think it is a nice truck that the owner took a few liberties so no it is not a "stock" truck. Dave

Re: Beautiful 67 SWB on CL.....or not so much
The only thing I see wrong is the use of the word restored, which is a common thing these days.
The stacked blocks probably aren't the best idea, but funny how everyone goes crazy bout how great a bagged truck is laying on the ground (or very close to it) when those things are one failed bag or line away from being immobile. |

Nice looking truck.

Re: Beautiful 67 SWB on CL.....or not so much
Nice truck....better than mine, it's realy not nice to run down another persons work.... he or she just might be a member on this forum and for that I am embarrased a thread like this got started. I don't think there are too many factory original restorations out there....I thought these opinions were from people who go to a car shows and don't even own a car but seem to know everything there is to know about your car or have a nicer one at home. Come on guys were better than this.

Re: Beautiful 67 SWB on CL.....or not so much
It is a heck of a good looking truck even if several pieces on it aren't 1967. I'd be checking the title against the vin plates pretty closely and for the price they are probably asking have any deal contingent on it passing the dmv inspection for being the truck they say it is.
From looking at the add on the website I would believe that the seller isn't the builder and quite possibly someone sold him a bill of goods. My truck is a 48 with a 48 title but I'd be hard pressed to find an actual 1948 part on the truck after all the part switching and modificatons. I'm one who agrees that we shouldn't make a habit of knocking someone else's vehicle. On this one we can all agree that the truck has a lot of parts that indicate that it may not actually be a genuine 67 model truck. I'm not a restorer by any meaning of the word but I still think "restored" means to showroom stock with correct for the year dealer available accessories if one wants to add them on. Again, a sweet little shortie conversion that I wouldn't mind having in my garage. |
