I can't believe I found a cherry tailgate at the junkyard!
Yep, I was there scavenging looking for a set of wheels and tyres and out of about 100 trucks that are 3.4 ton found ONE set of two for the front and one set of two for the rear with acceptable tyres on them for the 74 to use till I can afford a full new set. BTW it's a 2wd, and has the stock split rims on it! and Bias ply tyres! Anyway, whilst looking thru the trucks I spotted a 1978 with a cherry tailgate! Here in NM that is a find for sure since the two things you are sure of here while looking at for sale pickups the tailgate is hashed, and there is a crack in the windshield! I got totally lucky as my 74 has the stock windshield and it is crack free, and I found a cherry tailgate for the one on the 78 which is binned!

Re: I can't believe I found a cherry tailgate at the junkyard!
Yeah! And I wasn't looking for a tailgate! I was there for a window crank or actually a set of the metal ones, which I found and they were 4.99, and a set of wheels with tyres to replace the split rims/biasply tyres...got the whole set of real good Michlins on steelrims for the fornt for 50 bucks, and a set of AT BFG's about half done for another 50 bucks total for the set of two. I should say, wheel tyre combo on a steel wheel $27.00 each. Not bad considering for all four tyres and wheels i paid a total less than ONE tyre was going to cost me new.....and these will get me by till summer for sure. Then all I will have to do is get a new set of tyres for the rear and then Ill go BFG Mud terrain TA. 140 each new installed at Wally. 245 75 16s.
