Coil Spring pinion adjustment shims

Has anyone found a place that sales shims to adjust the pinion angle for coil spring rear ends?????

have a 1 piece shaft and need to adjust the angle a little bit down,

last hope would be to cut the welds and have it re welded.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Smitty

Re: Coil Spring pinion adjustment shims

Why can't you use shims where the trailing arms mount to the axle?

How do you determine the proper pinion angle on a lowered truck?

With the engine and tranny installed, I found a place on the engine that was parallel to the crankshaft and took an angle measurement. I then adjusted my frame to the expected ride height. I then placed the gauge against the vertical surface of the rearend pinion. It was a 90 degrees difference from the tranny, just take that into account. Then, I adjusted the pinion angle until it matched the tranny.

I bought a pair from a local company. You could call them and maybe get them shipped. Fort Wayne Spring Service. (260) 424-6263 Or Google them.

Cool, i will give them a ring. What did they charge? And these where for the coil spring rear and not the leaf spring, correct.

Re: Coil Spring pinion adjustment shims

Yes, for a coil spring rear. I swapped my GMC body to a Chevy frame in order to do the air ride. My receipt from the shop that installed them and did the alignment was $35, for the 6* shims.

What, no way. I just got a set for my trailing arm/coil rear back in May of this year.

Re: Coil Spring pinion adjustment shims

Well everyone, so far I only found 1 company that is still selling with exception to CPP. Hutch BSR has them. They are not on their website but if you call they say they have them. Not to cheap as well though, 3*= $26ea ($52 for the pair + shipping).

It is just amazing that no one carries these and not to mention how much they are trying to sell them for. It is just freakin metal (aluminum at that)

Re: Coil Spring pinion adjustment shims

Do you have aluminum drop blocks? I had to have my drop blocks machined at an angle to get my pinion angle correct. My friend is a machinist and he charged my $0 to put a 2* angle on them.
