Re: 10 bolt
If built well. There are a lot of guys running single digits in the 1/4 mile, with a 8 1/2" 10 bolt. Not that it's the ideal way to go, but it can and has been done.

Re: 10 bolt
The real question is: "Will your tires or suspension?" seriously...if you are not "hooking up" the strength of the rear end doesn't really matter that much.

Re: 10 bolt
I agree with the above. Just too many variables. With a locker and 35-15.50 boggers....NO. Open diff and 235/70-15 .....indefinately.

Re: 10 bolt
If your going to all that effort you might as well find at least a 12 bolt to start with. Its a much stronger foundation to start with.

Re: 10 bolt
Actually, you can swap the axle shafts between a newer 30 spline 10 bolt and a 12 bolt. They are exactly the same except for the length of the little bit of shaft that extends past the c-clip.

Re: 10 bolt
If you're talking about the '63-'70 12 bolts, then yes. You can get aftermarket 5 lug conversion axles from CPP, Early Classic, and Summit

Re: 10 bolt
My stock, worn out 350 and the 4 speed sheared the right shaft in my 10 bolt. So, I have a 12 bolt now for the sake of a little more strength.
