Has anyone sprayed bed liner to their entire truck?
I am flirting with the idea of doing this. Many of the jeep guys do this for their off road rigs bacause of how tough it is. I have a 71' C20 and use it as a truck. I would feel bad about putting a nice paint job on it only to drive it through the woods and get scrached up. I first wanted to do flat black, but dont think that there are advantages of going this route, as it would still show scratches and imperfections in the body...right? Does anyone have pics of our trucks done this way?
Thanks for the help! |

1 its a wheeled 4x4, who cares if it get beat a bit.
2 a full rhino job will cost you more than $2000 3 you truck will gain about 3-400 lbs. it will look retarded, ive seen it in person. |

Re: Has anyone sprayed bed liner to their entire truck?
I`d leave it be if you`re planning to use it in the woods enough to consider this.In my opinion it won`t look better because it`s "lined" before it ever hits the woods.I believe it`s no cheaper than good paint.I`d look into Imron. It may be about the same money as a bedliner job that would look 1/2 decent (Line-X).I`m sure I could have my bed interior shoot with Imron for the money they want for that. You`d be amazed at how durable Imron is.

Re: Has anyone sprayed bed liner to their entire truck?
Heed the advice from the older readers.... Me being one. Don't do it.
Eventually you will regret it and you will be stuck with it. And won't be able to get rid of it. There's a 4X4 scout or similar that's been in a self sell lot over here for 6 months. The whold body top to bottom has been sprayed. It does look good and it's a utility vehicle strictly for off road or hunting. But it hasn't sold. If you're worried about the paint and you are using it as a "truck," then get you a gallon of Rustoleum or similar and paint it yourself. I did the bed bottom of my truck with it and it's hard as nails. If I scratch it, I fix it with a brush. |

I just don't like the idea of not knowing what's gnawing at the metal under that thick layer of liner spray. |

Re: Has anyone sprayed bed liner to their entire truck?
There was a 70 4x4 that one of the guys at 4wheel and offroad had bought that was done in light blue rhino lining, it ruined the truck, looked like a big blue turd. If you're just gonna use it in the brush, Walmart rattlecan paint job works great, you can even change colors every week if ya want. With the lining sprayed on, you are what you are, it don't change anymore! Don't do it!

Re: Has anyone sprayed bed liner to their entire truck?
U-2's and SR-71's have a paint on them that looks like thin Rhino liner, but it is also radar-energy absorbing. So, anyone in the go-faster vein of thought might want to think about that paint to help avoid the "ticket masters" as you fly by their radar. Don't think it would work with Laser, though.
Otherwise, I can't think of anyone named Bubba who has enough green to paint their whole truck. If a truck was a candidate for it, it might not survive the prep procedure....

Re: Has anyone sprayed bed liner to their entire truck?
Dude, really It'll look like a textured wall, crap gets into those little crevices and it will not come out, I knew a dude that did a Jeep with white rhino liner, after a few weeks the grease and handprints on it made it look like POOP, Get a Gallon or two of flat/semiflat rustoleum or just shoot the rustoleum for rusty metal (ruddy brown) on it and press with pride save the money on the rhino liner for a new set of big mud tires or something, Just my Humble Opinion....

Re: Has anyone sprayed bed liner to their entire truck?
HA HA HA. I DID IT!
No not to my truck, but to my 89 YJ (off road only). I only did it to help hold the increasingly rusting panels and floor together. Go with a spray bomb paint job if you are worried about it, buy some extra cans and when you need to touch it up just spray on another layer.

Dont do it. I saw a jeep wrangler done that way and it looked horrible. The owner also regreted it when asked. Just spray bomb it........just my 2 cents

Here are some trucks done with Al's Liner.

Re: Has anyone sprayed bed liner to their entire truck?
I have seen one for sale here in Dallas and it looked pretty bad. However, if you just went up to the first line of trim, 12" or so, and then painted over it or used an integral colored coating, it doesn't look too bad. I saw an Avalanche at the Good Guys Show in Phoenix and it looked really good painted that way.

Re: Has anyone sprayed bed liner to their entire truck?
Hey - I didn't do the entire truck, but only in the rock chip areas on mine. The color didn't come out to as good of match as I had hoped. The place that sprayed it for me had just started at spray lining. First they lined my bed-sides in black, then shot the red rocker area. I think there was some contamination in the system from the black. The first red coat was almost brown. I had them grind down and recoat it. That helped, but still a little dark. But I ramble on... It works good there, I just have to stiff brush the mud / dirt out of it sometimes, but the whole truck? Wow, not sure. When building the truck, I was just going to flat black it - to make for an easy mud / tree ouch repair. THEN things got out of control, and I ended with a polish job, chrome, carpet, etc. Look at my pics there are some shots of it there. DA.
