got a few issues

well first off it is an 86 scottsdale 305 v8
it wants to idle really high when ever it is in neutral or park in drive it sounds fairly normal, it diesels really bad when you turn it off and i have drove 100 miles in the last 6 days and have put $55 dollars in the gas tank...what could this be?

or i think i got a gas gauge problem you can fill it up and the gauge goes to 3/4 and goes back and fourth between there and E? im stuck here

Re: got a few issues

i have an 82 with the 305 and a th 350 it has cost me $50 to go about 200 miles mostly highway but uphill If it has a four barrel carb and all they dont get good gas mileage but i would check the choke and make sure its not making you run hi , check the timing and the idle. I have a edelbrock carb on mine so it sucks gas.

Re: got a few issues

Mine is a 85 with 305 and 700r4 gets 13.6 to 14.2 mpg mixed driving.

My truck was doing the same thing i had the carb rebuilt and no more issues.

Good luck

i think i found a edelbrock for $70 so hopefully that will fix it how hard is it to swap a 700r4 trans into one of these?

Re: got a few issues

i wouldent think it would be to hard. I do know with the 700 you have to have a TV cable to control the shifting pressure. Its like a kick down cable.

I had my carb rebuilt insted of a new one because cali is a ***** with emissions.
