That looks pretty clean, I may just cut down and recess my old farm bumper to approximate that look.

That doesn't look half-bad, I may end up doing that with my dealer-install bumper now. After I locate a bed...

Re: is my bumper 1 of a kind?
I've never seen this particular style before. Judging by the number of variations I have seen, I think many were not sourced from GM, but from a local trailer hitch supplier or fabrication shop. With the dealer name etched in it, it's likely it came from one of these local shops.
I like the idea of chroming and keeping it, especially with such a unique design. I thought about having my original Barden bumper powder coated gloss black to match my truck, but didn't like the way the end pieces bolted to the sides of the rear (stepside) fenders. |

Re: is my bumper 1 of a kind?
I've seen a couple of the old diamond plate wrap-arounds cut off like yours. It definitely cleans up the quarters and you still have a beefy bumper.

Re: is my bumper 1 of a kind?
It was a common bumper, installed at the dealership level, but it has the ends lopped off. Per the Silver Book, this style bumper was designed to allow the end gate to open 180 degrees, straight down, without hitting the bumper. Since bumpers were an RPO (regular production option), installed at the dealership, many dealerships took advantage of the opportunity to have their dealership name stamped into the bumper, similar to the way dealerships apply decals or badges with their name on them.
In any case, good look for your truck. Last edited by LILRED66; 11-07-2009 at 11:14 PM. |

Re: is my bumper 1 of a kind?
back then the trucks had no rear bumper on them and when you bought the truck you got to chose what bumper you wanted on it. The dealerships usally had several different styles to choose from.
