I Scored........A Deal On Parts.

Hey guys, I found another good deal on some parts for my truck. I scored a busted grille off a Burban that the center bar trim and bowtie were still good for free (I have a pass. side turn signal lens if someone needs it, for free). I got a Chevy hood ornament for $5. A pair of bucket seat seat belts and latches for $20 (I have to modify them to work with my bench, but still useable). But I think my best deal was on these baby's. I got these headers for $10!!!! All they need is a good cleaning, remove and block off the o2 sensor, and get new collector boxes to fit my pipes and they'll be good to go. What do you think.

Thanks
Benjamin.

I think you suck, but only out of jealousy...

Definately a good score.

Re: I Scored........A Deal On Parts.

LOL. The guy I got the parts off of has another Burban behind his shop that has some nice parts left on it. Such as a burl wood instrument panel, clean front clip, and a sport rear bumper. I wish I had the money and space to get them, but I don't. He also had a set of derby headers, but I didn't ask about them cause I don't need them.

I like the design of the headers. The routing of the tubes is not the typical one where you have a hard time getting to the #6 spark plug. Those look like a socket might actually fit in there.

Great score.

Re: I Scored........A Deal On Parts.

To block off the O2 you can get an 18mm bolt with 1.5 pitch threads and cut it down.

Get the matching nut with it and thread it all the way to the top then use a cut off wheel or hack saw and cut off everything below the nut.

When you thread the nut back off it will clean up the damaged threads from the cutting process so the bolt will thread into the fitting still.

If you have a sander or grinder chamfer the end of the threaded part so it looks like the end of the bolt you cut off. It will make it install easier.

You can always just leave the sensor in place and cut off the wiring pig tail. This won't cost you a cent and will take all of two seconds to do.

Re: I Scored........A Deal On Parts.

I was thinking about using a bolt to bloc it off, leave it, or weld it shut. I think they'll work. Even if they don't, they're still worth the $10 I paid for them.

Re: I Scored........A Deal On Parts.

One of the great aspects of these trucks is the plentiful supply of inexpensive quality used parts.

Great score.....your headers beat the deal I recently got on a set for a SBC.

Re: I Scored........A Deal On Parts.

Here's pics of the other parts I got a deal on.
Hood ornament: New-$109.95. Mine-$5.

Grille trim: New-$125.95. Mine-$0.

Edit: I want to get rid of the seat belts and get correct ones. The ones I got won't work for my application. Anybody want 'em?

It's an AC equipped. Here's a link to his CL post. Just email him.

BTW, I found the name on the headers. They're Hedman Hedders.

Re: I Scored........A Deal On Parts.

Hey guys. I got the bowtie cleaned up and installed on my truck. I think it looks right at home on there. I also installed some new driving/fog lights.
