What size is a stock steering wheel in a 72 checy truck (c10) ? How are they measured ? Side to side ,also how small of a steering wheel can be used and still be comfortable and not get in the way of my gut? Any and all answers will be appreciated.

LMC lists 17in steering wheel as stock size they sell14-16in sizes is it manual or powersteering? if manual keep the larger steering wheel better leverage, i tried smaller and found my self struggling and crossing hands trying to get a grip on less steering wheel just my opinion

I agree with 292farmer. If you got power steering any reasonable size wheel will suffice. If you have manual steering like mine does it's a bear to park with even a 17" wheel, so I wouldn't go any smaller unless you like sore arms.

I measured my '67 GMC across the middle support to the outside edge and it's 17" diameter. The other way (top to bottom when the wheel is centered) was about 16 3/4". I don't have power steering either so without that big wheel, it would be a problem for sure to park it! I don't think I'll ever be able to run it at high speed around pylons (maybe through them!).

I don't remember where I saw it but somewhere on here is how to shorten the column.My nephew is a big guy and he had a guy shorten his column so he could drive without wearing a hole in all his shirts.
