old snap-on ratchets
last week Snappy handed me a flyer with the history o their 3/8" ratchets. I got to looking at it and recognised one that I got at a rummage sale 3 years ago. it's a "F70N" with a "g" stamped in the head by the lever. it also says "Ferrett" on the handle. as it turns out it was made in 1944 for military use in WWII. it still works great, although I use it to collect dust more than anything. I wonder what it's worth.

Re: old snap-on ratchets
when my grandfathr died i was givven a small handfull of snap on tools. When I needed to get the ratchet worked on my snap on guy looked at it real quick and said "I ain't fixing that"thinking it was an off brand piece. When i showed him what it was he commented on never seeing one like that in his life. Turns out it's a piece from 1964.

Re: old snap-on ratchets
Hmmm I just looked at a 1/4" Snap On ratchet I have, and it has the MV71 code on it. Just did some quick googling and learned that the V stands for Millitary, and that mine was made in the 1960's time period.
Cool

Re: old snap-on ratchets
Know that most Snap-On dealers will NOT warranty a government/military issued tool. They usually claim there was no money "up front" to cover the warranty since these tools were sold at a discount to the government. They also say that because they were government issued that civilians are not suppose to be in possession of them.
