Which Rear end Do I need... for a 308 posi???

Hey guys,
I have a 69 12 bolt 373 Nonposi rear end. I need a rear end with leaf spring mounts that will accept a 308 posi and six lug axles, Im guessing a 71 or 72 rear end will work, but do I need a 12 bolt or 10 bolt rear end to accept the 308 ??? if you guys can help out, let me know, and how much I might be looking to spend to get it?

all u need to do is swap out ur carrier for a posi carrier that has those gears. eaton makes a very good posi unit for around 400 bucks im not sure what the gearset will run ya. one thing i would reccomend is to let someone else do the rear unless u have done them b4. because there are a few specialized tools that you have to have to properly install the carrier and pinion and all

I have a set of 308's (posi) in my 72 Jimmy and I am taking them out to put in 373's, I will let them go for $150.00 with ring and pinion+ shipping

Will your gears fit in my rear end, or a rear end from a 71 or 72 chevy? How do I know what carrier to get? I'd like to get it at a wrecking yard if possible to save a little money. Im guessing there's an ID number on the case, if someone knows the proper number for a 308 case, that’d be great. I think my uncle has the 308 gears, but I wasn’t sure if my case would accept them. What I need to make sure is that the case has leaf spring mounts, (or can the axle housing be replaced?) If my uncle ends up Not having the gears for me, I'll definitely let you know..

Nick, you can put 3.07 gears in your housing, but will need to change the carrier. The 3.73 ring is mounted to a 4 series carrier, & the 3.07s will need a 3 series carrier. If you pick up a posi carrier for the 3 series gears, you should be good to go. I agree with cableguy on the setup tho......if you havent set up gears, its better left to somebody that has done the job. Good luck.....crazyL
