add a leafs

Okay guys quick question here. Can i order 2 inch add a leafs now and then later on order my 6 inch lift and put the 2 inch add a leafs in those springs to get 8 inches of lift? I wanna get the truck a little higher now but i cant afford both the lift and the 37's that are gonna go with it so i was just gonna put the 2 inch add a leafs on for now and later order a 6 inch kit then instead of 8 inch. So will i be able to add them to the 6 inch packs? Thanks

Don't think it will work that way for you, I just put the Rancho add a leafs on my '78 it raised it almost 3 inchs, but my springs were worn, if the new lift kit would include "arched springs" I don't believe the add a leaf would do anything.

The picture is with their add a leafs in the front & 2" blocks in the rear.

I don't think that would work. The add a leaf is designed for the arc of a stock spring. It would be fairly flat compared to the arc of a 6" lift spring. This is just my thinking, not saying it's right.

Thats what i was afraid of. Now i have a hard decision to make because i really want 8 inches of lift in the end but i cant buy the lift and tires now.

You could go with a 4" shackle flip for now and get 4" lift springs later for your 8". What year of truck is it? If it's 73 on you have a choice of 2.5" or 4" with the shackle flip from: http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/shacklekit.htm

i had a set of 8" lift springs and a 2" add a leaf.
took em apart 4 times and put the spring in diff locations,never got anymore than maybe an extra 1" at the most.that was with the add a leaf way towards the bottom,was just forcing the springs tighter,almost twice as stiff as before.

Well my truck is a 70 3/4 ton and im planning on a 460 big block for it. I really wanna go all spring but im not sure if thats the best choice. Im gonna pull with it and probably load it down pretty heavy so i dont wanna have alot of flex in the back. Will the shackle flip give it more flex or make it squat more when loaded? I was thinking about 6 inch spring packs and then adding leafs to the bottom to stiffen it up and give it the last 2 inches of lift. Would you guys suggest that i get 1 ton 12 stack springs from a 73-87 and just do a shackle flip?
