Help me with a custom dash please!!!
Just to start of i'm new to this forum and i'm finding alot of stuff useful on here! But one thing that I can not find anything about how to make a fiberglass dash or make a dash out of something else that looks nice and is tough too! I have a great idea of how i want to make a dash in my truck but i dont know where to start and what to buy in order to make it happen. Give everyone a idea I have a 1982 chevy its in great condition and i will have to post some pictures later. So if anyone could point me in the right direction to get me started that would be way awesome!! Another thing is that I want to move the stereo where it is stock(I hate the location of it now right under the climate control) I want to move it to where it is easier for the passenger to use also. so like just above the ashtray would be awesome.

Re: Help me with a custom dash please!!!
if you want to make a new stock looking one out of fiberglass heres how to do so
take your original dash put vasiline all over the inside then use 2part expanding foam and basicly will make a mold of your original dash then pull the mold off the vasiline used in the begining will make it easy to get the mold off then go and put more vasiline on the mold after its dryed lay your fiber glass matting over the mold and use a paint brush to brush on the fiperglass resin and hardner mix let dry pull off do some sanding and bondo cover in vinel or what ever you wish to use heres a site with some desent prices on fiber glass materials 2 part expanding foam http://www.shopmaninc.com/foam.html fiberglass mat http://www.shopmaninc.com/mat.html fiberglass resin http://www.shopmaninc.com/polyesters.html |
