New '65 Project in Florida
I just picked up this 1965 Chevy Fleetside/Shortbed a couple of weeks ago - that I found on Craigslist. It had a brand new 350ci/400+hp that had not even been started, a 700r4 transmission, new power disc brakes, new power steering, new headers and Flowmasters, new aluminum fuel tank mounted between the frame rails, brand new front fenders, brand new doors, all new chrome, all new rubber (weatherstrips, etc...), new Ididit chrome tilt column, new Dolphin instrumentation, the cab had all of the metal work done and is painted Hugger Orange with PPG single stage polyurethane "Concept" paint (he even gave me a gallon of paint), brand new tires with the stickers still on them, brand new Rally wheels, and much, much, more!!! Since I have had it, I got it running. It sounds awesome! I love the Pete Jackson gear drive! I ordered all new glass and carpet and had the seat covered. It looks awesome.

"Let the picture Czar handle this"??? Did I do something I wasn't supposed to? I am new to this site and I not familiar with all of the "etiquette" I guess.

Re: New '65 Project in Florida
Mechanically it is ready to move under it's own power...with the exception of the transmission. It has a 700r4 and when I put it in gear it doesn't do anything. When I first got the engine started (I have ran it for about a total of 15 minutes), something was making a loud sound - kind of like a supercharger sounds. Initially I didn't think to much about it - because it also has a Pete Jackson gear drive - which makes a similar sound. The longer I ran it the louder it got. I checked the dipstick on the tranny and the fluid wasn't even touching it. I added ten quarts and it still made noise and still didn't move. I jacked the truck up, took out the converter bolts and slid the converter back. The noise went away. Good news for the engine...the problem is not there...but I don't know about the tranny. I don't know if the guy I bought this "project" from put fluid in the converter. He says the transmission was newly rebuilt and the converter was new ???? Is there a way to test the converter now to see if it is OK? How about the transmission? If he didn't put any fluid it the converter, will the converter pick up the fluid by me adding it to the transmission? Should I pull the converter, add fluid to it, put it back in and try it again?

Re: New '65 Project in Florida
I thought I stole my truck for 1500, Till I tore it apart. Looks like you have a good build though.
I guess he needed the cash and had to unload it.
