Dads 67 Camper needs wheels--please help

Hi everyone, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I recently took ownership of my late fathers 1967 Chevrolet Camper edition pick-up. I need to put some wheels and tires on this truck as soon as possible. I'm not sure what my dad did, but he decided to put large tires on the on the rear of the truck giving the truck a huge forward rake. Anyways, I would like some suggestions on what kind of wheels and tires I should purchase for the truck. I'm not sure what originally came on the truck, but i would guess 16.5 inch wheels from reading some of the other forum posts. Thank you...Marty

The camper edition is known as the Custom Camper during the 67-72 era. Many of these trucks are found without the original period correct wheels since tire sizes change over time and non commercial tire shops don't like to work on 2 piece rims. It should have came with 16" 2 piece wheels. There were also optional 16.5",17", 17.5" and 19.5" wheels during 67 and 68.If it is a 20 series 3/4 ton with 8 lugs, all period correct rims will have clips for hubcaps.There were also aftermarket period 16.5" wide base wheels made for the camper market that were usually installed on back axle, since front axle weight problems were never and issue. So, it pretty much depends what your after, a period correct vehicle or not. If you are not concerned about an authentic period look, most people today would put on very plentiful 16" one piece wheels (bump type) from the 80's.

You can get solid steel factory hubcap-type 16" wheels used,at junkyards or new.To come close to the most popular stock size you could go with 235/85-16 radials all around.What style wheels did your dad put on?I`m assuming those were 16.5s.Are the fronts wider than stock,yet smaller than rear or are just the rears oversize?Can you post pictures?
