found the illness of my truck
yesterday i jacked up my truck and was just checking things out cause the vibration between 45-60 mph was REALLY irritating me. so anyway, i jacked it up and was checking the tires and yep you guessed it, i flat spotted my tires during the MIS-HAP on Christmas morning. then i still had the clatter underneath. i crawled under it and was banging around on things and i found the cat. converter was what is rattling. its not loose or anything , the insides are rattling. this thing is only about 2-3 years old. i think i am going to pull it off and break out the insides and let it ride till it wont pass inspection, then i will replace it.
also just to give an update on the tranny, i dont know if this thing is suppose to do this but i like it and the tranny guy said that there is nothing wrong with the tranny. when i slow to a stop sign i can feel the truck down-shift, almost as if i am manually down-shifting it. i really like that, i brought it to the tranny guys attention and he said it wont hurt it, so i am not complaining. the tranny feels ALOT stronger than it was the first time, so maybe this incident fixed something anyways.

I can slightly feel my 2004R downshift from 2nd to 1st when stoping quickly. Its a built up unit, so I think its fine. Glad to hear you found your problems. Its amazing how simple it turns out to be 90% of the time.

Hmmm.... kinda sounds like my truck. I would hate for my truck to have flat spots - the tires are less than a year old.

Only way to get rid of a flat spot is to light them um baby!!! A few millimeters and they'll be fine.
Glad you found the problem. Good luck with the tranny. I also feel the downshifts pretty hard on mine but only when it's cold. Once it warms up really hot the downshifts less noticable. People usually ask if that's normal. I say yes. :p |
