Guys, I know we've talked about this before, but I cant find the thread. I need to re-do my exuast, the mufflers hang too low to drop my truck as is. The main problem is the passenger side exuast has to go UNDER the crossmember because it dosent drop down like the drivers side does. Isent there a crossmember that will work better? If not then Im cutting and welding a couple crossmembers together to work.

Tom I have a cross member out of a sub. that is a double hump. It is straight across. It isnt shaped like an L. Its more of just a straight across type thing. It sits inside the frame on the low lip on both sides. Are you interested in it? Do you have a welder?

Lets see Eddie, so far Ive almost taken your driveshaft, have installed your tranny cooler, and am now about to ask for your crossmember. Dont you think you should just give me your truck too?

I would love to check it out. You can see my exaust at the same time. Are you going to be home after 5pm tonight? I can stop by on my way home from work.

Funny that you brought that up. I just put a double hump trans crossmember in my 86 C-10 2wd. I was bangin' my head trying to find one. I went to the junkyard(U-PULL) 5 times, first crossmember I bought was out of a C-20. It looked perfect but it was actually to tall and changed the driveline angle. After several different installations I finally found the right one out of a 78 C-10 camper special. All I had to do was drill 2 holes on the drivers side frame to accomodate the top bracket, and 1 of the bottom. All the other holes lined up. I'm using a T-400 short-tail. The swap eliminates the clearance problems I had with exhaust.

i cut metal from pass side bottom of mine in my 81 c-10 to put in 2.5" duals and headers, cutt off the bottom bracket of the end of the member, gota do what you gotta do,

Tom,
You can come look at it Sunday or Monday if you would like. Today and Saturday may not be so good. But you can call me Saturday and see whats up, I'll be going to my moms company picnic (?) on Saturday, but dont know what time ill be home.

Tom to save you a trip Ill take a picture tonight of the crossmember and let you judge if you want it based off that. Remember I almost gave you the driveshaft you didnt want

, wouldnt want you to drive over and be disappointed.

EDIT:
I dont know if its double hump or not. I kno it goes straight across and I think it has some little humps in it. hmmmm, I guess well both have to wait to see exactly what im talking about.

That's the one! The thing that's different about that crossmember is it's scary clean. Every crossmember I've handled needed some serious grease removal. If you need the diagonal braces Email me, I have several sets.

I bought it from a junk yard and paid like $15 or so. If you want it just buy me a six pack or something and its all yours.

Oh yeah it didnt come out of the burb that clean. I had to do some work on it, then I painted it. Then I broke the tranny and it all went to storage. No use now.
