I put a tuff country easy ride 4 inch on my 69 last year. Worked out ok and lifted me up a true 4 1/2 inches. The ride was better then stock as was the handling. I shopped around for the beat riding spring and that was the answer I came up with.

Skyjacker 4" system with front and rear springs and drop steering arm. Stock springs are usually clapped out after 30 years. I have National 4" springs on the back of my truck with a 3/4 ton rating. It sits nice and level still and the lift is 13 years old. I bent the perches on my diff housing with 2 1/2" blocks and add-a-leaf I originally had. Never use blocks again. I have a 20' boat with 400# tongue weight and they handle it well. I have Rancho 4" fronts, a ProComp steering arm and shocks. I pieced mine together, but the Skyjacker system is a food deal for $550 or so. My rear springs were $300 by themselves in '89.

if money is of no concern, have the springs made from someone like National Spring in California. They charge $100/inch for the pair. 4" springs would run $400 for front or rear and they can make them ride however you want. I had to have them make me a pair of rears because nobody makes them for my 67.

I'm happy with my Tuff Country front springs and also like the shackle flip that 68SWB4x4 mentioned. Check out my website for more info on that setup and install. I would probably pick different shocks though. I have the Tuff Country SX8000's and I would like to change them out to the adjustable Rancho's. Your probably will want to get a steering stabilizer assuming your are moving up to some big meats.

I have a Rough Country 4" Lift that I am fairly happy with. It is a little stiff but the weight of my Suburban helps. This kit used 4 springs not blocks.
