WTT or WTS updated stepside bed for 72 c10
I have a nice updated step side bed that is currently on my 72 c10. I am looking for an original fleet side bed. I would be willing to trade or sale this bed outright for 800.00 , but do prefer trade. I am in Georgia about an hour from Savannah and 3 1/2 hours south of Atl.
It is in perfect shape. Just paint your color. I have attached a picture. The back has the sport bumper and tailgate is smooth with no logos. I will try to get picture of it in a day or two. Last edited by srea76; 12-14-2009 at 07:09 PM. |

Will you take $600 for it and do you know if it will fit my 63 short?

Can you tell me what years and model that type of bed comes from? You mentioned a "sport" style bumper. I think one of those beds would look fantastic on my '63 if I grafted my current fenders onto it. Thanks, Aboz.

My bed was a 91. I think you can use from 88-94 or so beds. They had to weld 2 mounts in front and back to make it work on my 72. I called it sport bumper because chevy called those sport sides.

The bed floor was steel, tailgate, and the bumper.the rest is fiberglass. I will post a picture of what the guy I traded with did with my old one. Looks differant but kinda cool with stacks.

Thanks for the info guys. I just located a perfect blue '98 bed in my area for $550! The paint looks nice enough to go ahead and paint my cab to match. I'll post pics soon, Aboz.

Here is what the guy that got my bed did with it. Also posting the bed he traded me for mine and my old bed back bumper so you can see what it looks like. Good luck with your new find. I noticed you made a photoshop forum post. They will suprise you what they can do, but you need to post examples etc.

I thought so. The guy got what he wanted and I got what I did. The 72 fleet side has no rust on panels, but some in bed floor that is minor.

You never know what some people are thinking.
I was curious what you meant by "updated" Stepside bed.Did he install stainless strips?Eliminate the chains and make a latch? Then,I opened the thread and see what you meant. It`s not a Stepside bed at all.You had a Sportside, the bed that replaced the Stepside in`88.

The guy that got the bed was one of the nicest men I have ever met. He told me he did not care about originality because he was going all custom. Already had a corvette rear end and some other front end in it. Was going to drop a corvette motor in it also. Picture below he sent me.

Re: WTT or WTS updated stepside bed for 72 c10
It`s not about originality,It`s about looking good.A hot rodded and customized truck looks awesome with the original bed.Why mess that up?I thought we liked how these trucks look. His loss is your gain.Different strokes...

Re: WTT or WTS updated stepside bed for 72 c10
Come on now Special K. The very word customized means that it's subject to the owner's taste, even if you or I may think it's the worst thing we've ever seen! In every hobby there will be "purest" who think we shouldn't alter the design of what ever it is they collect or restore. Back in the 40's,50's and60's most automobile companies designed their cars and trucks only three years ahead of production. Artists and draftsmen scrambled to lock down a design and move on. I'm sure the continuation of the '55 stepside bed all the way through '66 was a compromise to cut down production costs so the designers could concentrate on the Fleetside style that was gaining popularity throughout the industry. I know how you feel though. Myself, I can't stand some of the things I've seen teens and twenty somethings do to their newer model trucks. Daytona body mods and those little "baby" wheels that were so popular some 15 years ago drove me insane! But...to each his own. Check out Josue Hernandez's '62 with a modern bed. To me it makes the entire design of this truck look way ahead of it's time. I would be interested to know what you think. Aboz.
