E-Brake Cable help
The bracket that holds the cable to the trailing arm on each side is too far gone for reuse on my 63. I called inline tube. lmc, ect all the regulars they either do not have it or know what it is. I thought they would come on the new cables but guess not - any one know a supplier or local part store part # for these. I know they have to be out there some were. I checked two other trucks and they were a ball of rust also. Thanks

Re: E-Brake Cable help
if you are referring to the bracket that is attached to the trailing arm, i have not seen those reproduced, but they could exist. could you weld a washer to the bracket and notch it, slide the cable in, and clamp it with the mickey mouse looking clip?

Re: E-Brake Cable help
Jame,
Here is how mine are but I changed the cable to a different kind. Here also is some details of the originals. They would be easy to fab up from some flat stock. Or you could start with an electrical cable clamp, or an Adel clamp and work up a good solution. Hope this helps some and good luck. TR

Re: E-Brake Cable help
You posted that you are missing the brackets that attach to the trailing arms that hold the EB cable.. I have a 63 short step side and the new cables that I have are too long..maybe I'm missing what your talking about. Anyone with a pic would be a big help.
The cables that I ordered are from truckandcarshop.com but most of the parts suppliers have them. Bob |

Re: E-Brake Cable help
The brackets slide on to the forward end of the rear cables and then bolt to the trailing arm outer side. They keep the cable from slipping forward when the hand brake is applied. Mine were still on the old cables just too rusty to reuse. If your cables are too long I would guess they are for a LWB rather than SWB.

Re: E-Brake Cable help
Thanks for the pics -- Your set up looks very nice. I guess I'll make a bracket I just thought if they were still made I would take the lazy way out.
