How does your truck handle in the snow and what tires are you running in the snow?

Mine does surprisingly well with 300lbs of sandbags in the back of the bed.

real bad with 2 broke springs on one side and one on the other . replaced both sides then it was ok. that was in ohio. not much worry about snow down here in southern louisiana.

weight in the back and you are ok...snow tires of course would be ideal...

With siped mud & snow rated tires I almost never needed to put my 90 Z71 into 4x4 and I didn't put any weight in the back with it.

On my 67 C-10 with aggressive snow tires it did OK but the minimal ground clearance caused the tires to lose traction a lot without weight in the back. It needed a bunch of weight in the back to compensate for this but with enough weight it was unstoppable.

I started the winter with a bout 600 pounds of weight right over the rear axle and as it snowed I just packed it down in the bed. A few snow storms into the season and the snow had been packed into a tonneau cover like mass in the bed. I could push through snow plow berms two feet high with it and used it as a plow to clear the unplowed street parking areas in front of my friends house and my old house. It would just push the snow out of the way.

I run all terrains on the rear of my 2wd and its got heavy leafs in the rear so i have to put a decent amount of weight in it to get it to do anything onther than slide all over

In snow, mine handles great. When there's ice around, my truck handles like an unskilled rider on a unicycle.

Is there anything I can do to help my tires get slightly more traction on ice without going to chains?

You can have them siped by the local tire store. Runs under $10 a tire and makes a huge difference on the ice. No effect on the tires performance on dry pavement but it weakens the tread blocks a little if you do any rock crawling.

I've never had a problem, though we don't get snow too often. Mostly just Icy bridges and such.

I wish the truck had the tranny setup my old 69 mustang had. It was an auto (C4) and if you put the selector in 2nd, the car would start off in 2nd, not 1st. Pretty handy in the snow and ice

As far as I know, studs are illegal in my area and I think chains might be as well on a fullsize vehicle.

Not so well... i spun out and and put mine in the ditch Thursday night and took out my whole passenger side with the exception of the front fender.

I guess it gives me an excuse to begin constructing it into the truck i've dreamed about.

Unless your in deep snow i found posi to suck in the winter,with both rear wheels spinning they always want to just slide sideways into buildings and such...lol....but the posi will keep you going for sure

I just got home from work and it is snowing it's but off. Somewhere over a foot. Getting going takes a little while but once I was rolling it did really well. bf goodrich radial ta only a week old and no weight in back of truck.

my trucks always been good in snow as long as you go slow and no sudden turns and snow tire on the back help alot too

I tried today and did fine until I had to go up a hill to leave my neighborhood then it was all over for me. I had no weight in the back with cooper cobra tires.

Never thought about snow when it was being built. Thought you guys might get a laugh out my adventure, only reason I attempted it was I wanted to go to a show. Luckily I still have my honda accord for the bad weather, never had a problem with it and guess what tires are on it_cooper cobra_HAHA.

ok thats a lie i got stuck yesterday, we had 6 inches of snow the one wheel wonder dose it again. i melted all the ice from 1 side by droping it in gear and leting the clutch out but when that side got traction the other side went to spining

so i had 2 get pulled out

the truth of the story is like .5-2 inches my truck dose fine, 6 inches not so good
