Is it hard to change the door locks on our trucks? My son is having difficulty unlocking both of his doors. They are relatively cheap, but I just want to make sure its a fairly easy repair. Thanks!!

It isn't fun but it isn't hard either. You have to pull the inside door panel off and there will be a spring clip on the back side of the door lock. Pull the clip off, swap locks, push clip back on and hook up linkage.

pull the door locks out spray the hell out of them with PB blaster and work them...lube up the lock parts since you have the door panel off I like to use white grease or motorcycle chain lube...put them back in and then your door keys will match your ing..

it's even cheaper to lubricate the moving parts to make them work smoother

I took mine apart cleaned and lubed them and they work great. It's not that hard just keep track of all the clips.

You should use graphite in door locks as it doesn't attract dirt and dust and won't get stiff in cold weather.

takes awhile to do = yes

I would try graphite in them first...

If your doors are sagging or if rust has taken hold in the A pillar, B pillar or in the door itself - the locks may never work right...just a heads up.

I always change mine out in sets,,,Doors,Ignition,Glove box door, so I only have 1 key to deal with....Simple though, except the ignition sometimes can be a pain.

Like mr48chevsaid, it's no sweat.

When I got my 67 I didn't have the door keys to the locks,so I stripped the door locks from my wrecked 87 S10,and installed them in my 67 doors.They fit perfectly

If you roll down the window you can spray the back of the lock cylinders and the mechanism down through the back of the window opening. Then stick the nozzle into the lock and spray it good. Wipe any spray off of the paint with a paper towel. Let it set for a few minutes and work the key in and out and back and forth. If they don't loosen up after doing this a couple of times, replace them. I do not recommend graphite. It is a good lubricant but I have taken lock cylinders apart that have had graphite used on them and when it gets wet it turns into a gummy mess...

Just my 2¢ worth.

Lubricating locks and hinges is just part of my yearly maintanence on all my vehicles.
