Re: Our Apache Shop Truck

Nice truck GM sold the 235-261 engine and the 5200 3RD member Diff to toyota for the FJ land cruizers. I wonder if the diesel models had taller gears ??? that would be a nice bolt in ???

I don't have a link but I can tell you how to do it
Hot lash specs 0.006 intake 0.018 exhaust
Hot is defined as engine being at operating temp.
some engines have valve set marks on the flywheel if not use the rocking method; rotate engine in operating direction watch the no. 6 rockers rotate until exhaust is closing and just as no 6 intake starts to move set lash on no. 1 rotate aprox.1/3 turn this time watch no.2 exhaust/intake set no.5
continue thru firing order
rocking 624153
setlash 153624

recheck the clearance after you tighten the lock nut
this is a solid lifter engine and will have some lash noise in normal operation
