coil rear suspension.......
can bolts be used in place of u-bolts if so what kind? good idea or bad and why?

if u take out the u bolt, and use a bolt, what will hold the axle down?

Don't do it.
I saw a nice truck destroyed years ago, because a guy did the same thing. (rearend came out from under the truck at 55mph on a corner) Get the proper u-bolts! |

i have the proper u bolts in it now i was just thinking cause i think they might end up hitting my notch and not allow it to fully lay out.

can u cut like an inch off the bottom of the notch or whatevery u need then plate it back up?

the bolts would still tighten the the pad down which is welded to the rear. if you dont make a lot of hp, hydro jump, or do high speed driving i would say do it.
however, you would be safer to trim more of your framework to make it clear and keep the u bolt. |
