santa came anyone???
come on guys anyone got any santa stories?
well i found a 55 chevy 3200 at the neighbors and he told me $150. ya thats not a typo $150. so i hinted to santa and look what showed up. ya so back in june i got a 67 gmc 1/2 ton from the water company for 250 and it turns out that the 55 is a water company truck also the reason that its so cheap is all the rust holes which isnt really that bad. ill go get it tomorrow and tow it home. im kinda excited. |

Re: santa came anyone???
ya im going to drive it to school. those rust spots wont be hard to fix. probably not even have to tear it apart but you never know. the only down side is that i have to get my 67 back together before i even think of doing anything to the 55. i was like can i start it up? and there like will you have to take anything out of it? i was like mabey the gas tank to drain it and there like no! parents suck! ha ha. just kiddin

Re: santa came anyone???
Nice score. What's the deal with so many nice older trucks in Montana. I see lots of trucks on ebay from Montana with almost no rust. I would have figured with the brutal winters you guys get, they'd be pure rust. Don't they salt the roads there?

well i got it home! it was about 8 miles with absolutely no brakes. we drug it home with my dads 86 power ram and he was cruzin. well it was pretty smooth we started out on the pavement and it was making a thump that shook the whole pickup. then we got going about 20 and it would go smooth then make a vibration then smooth again and that kept going until we his the gravel. the speedo worked and when we went over 22 the front left wheel made a very loud squealing sound and the speedo went from about 55 to 100+ i thought it was going to break off. im just glad i didnt hit the back of the dodge. right before the driveway there is a big hill so we had to put the ram on the back to hold the chevy back but we finally made it. |

Re: santa came anyone???
Now that is a story with some excitement involved in it. I've towed a few home or other places like that and it sometimes can be a bit interesting.

Re: santa came anyone???
Bringing home any old vehicle is an adventure in itself. A few years ago I had a 54 buick and my wife had an MGB. Both were project cars. We moved to the country and we had fun moving the two cars out there. The Buick ran but had no breaks. Th MG had breaks but did not run. You get the picture. Lets just say It's a good thing We had a solid mariage.
