Rockerbox Install
Hi
I am replacing the rockerbox, rocker and rear fender. I am using the shortbed fender and cut them down. When lining it all up the rockerbox is lower than the rear fender. Is this normal? Tryed looking at other photos but the angles are off. Attached is a photo of my set up. Can you let me know if this is normal. Doug |

Re: Rockerbox Install
Not sure if it is correct but that is how mine looks, and I did the same repair.

Re: Rockerbox Install
That would make sense since the rocker is lower then the rear fender. IIRC there is an L shaped piece of sheetmetal a couple inches long that should be welded on both the rear fender to rocker box where it is hanging down.

Helicopter:
How wide is the gap between the end of your rocker and the lower part of the fender/ bedside. This question has nothing to do with your rockerbox question but I am lining all mine up now and I wasn't sure what the gap was supposed to be |

Re: Rockerbox Install
Here's a picture of the piece that attaches to the rocker box and hangs down below the fender. The end cap bolts up to it on the outside. They're usually pretty rusted out because a lot of crap builds up behind them. You can see the welds where I had to piece this one back together. I think Wes at Classic Heartbeat was working on making some repops. If you're interested, you can find more shots of how I patched this piece and the rocker boxes back together in my webshots album.
btw, 1/2" sounds like a pretty wide gap between the rocker and rear fender but if you've already got it together I wouldn't worry too much about it. You can see the bottom lip of the rocker box and that support piece pretty well in this pic:
