Nice one and i don't know if anyone else noticed is that red or orange? It looks red when its on the trailer but under the lights in the garage it looks orange.?

I don't know for sure because I haven't seen it in the sun cleaned up. I'm thinking it was just the flash on the camara thad made it look orange. Dennis

Cleaning up nice. Although I have had setbacks. Replaced the trans with another turbo350.
Didn't like the carb settings on the holley. Tried to reset with no luck, so I did a rebuild on the carb and I like the results.
Checked the engine cylinder vacuum and found 60lbs in # 1 hole. Pulled the engine and found the top edge ( 1/4 x 2 inch long) portion of the piston gone.
Ordered the parts today to build a 383 stroker with vortec heads. Hope to have those parts this weekend.

Yeah, never tell anyone what you paid if you want to sell someday, you can do 5K worth of improvements and people only "hear" what you paid and want to pay less than you did

It makes perfect sense for a new car, but not a classic

picked up my parts Friday afternoon.
Started with a 1999 350 Vortec engine--machine work done with a .030 over bore. Crank is a 400 turned down to fit the 350 block.Went with a dished piston to bring the compression to a driver friendly 9.5.Chose the 5.7 long rod with a floating wristpin and threaded into the rod to accept bolts. they come with rounded shoulders. This was to avoid any grinding on the rod caps and bolts to clear the cam and block with their longer angle and throw.
Pressure washed with soap and water all the parts including the block, crank and heads. Then blew dry with air. Now ready to build

Got the engine finished up, Primed the oil pump with an old dist. shaft I hooked up to my drill. Reinstalled the distributor and fired her up on the engine stand I built years ago. Ran it for about 20 minutes with no issues other than a worn out distributor. The advance plates and holes were egg shaped causing way to much advance.
Installed a new MSN electronic unit and resolved all the problems. Set my timing and adjusted the carb with a vacuum gauge.
No leaks and ready to install. Dennis

I got back to it after a short break. Got the engine back in and took it for a test drive. Man--I am a fan of stroker motors now. I love the torque it has.
Took the top off and repainted it today.
Repainted the cowl also.
Tomorrow I'll start on the interior.

With the cam in, it was time to place the crank. Checking with plastic gauge before the final coating of assembly lube.Lots of assembly lube and being clean in the process is the key.
