drive shaft question
i posted the 68 lwb gmc i purchased to be my donor truck for my 72 short step.
any chance that the drive shaft on the lwb will work on my swb. it looks to be a 2 pc deal. havnt had time to get under the truck much and look with the rain we have been having. |

You can get it shortened probably.
I had a beefier carrier bearing assembly than the stock 1/2 ton put on my C10. A 3/4 ton mount and newer/bigger style carrier bearing than stock. Original carries are flimsy to say the least on the 1/2 tons with some extra HP they will twist and make Allot of noise when they do. I'll post some pics....

SWB's have a 1piece driveline.

most SWB had a 2 piece shaft.
Assuming the engine and tranny are the same between the two trucks, the driveshaft will be 12 inches too long |

They have both depends if the truck has a manual or auto trans.
My 68 SWB has a 2 pc with the 350 auto, picture shown the bigger 3/4 ton carrier assembly The 71 SWB has a 1 pc with the manual trans.
