Can I join your club?

I picked it up today. It was just too good of a deal to pass up!

$300 and 5 miles from the house. It is really not too bad off. Plans include of course some body work, and maybe a diesel....

Re: Can I join your club?

By the way it is a 1966 with 52k.
Straight six, 4 speed manual.
It has been in a garage for 12 years, before that it was used to haul materials to a jobsite, then parked at the site until it needed to get materials for a new job.

Re: Can I join your club?

Thanks everybody!

First thing is to tear it down and find all of the "invisible rust". I know it needs rockers, cab corners, passenger inner fender, and the drivers side door bottom, but everything else looked pretty good on initial inspection.
As of right now I will just give the engine a good prime and some fresh gas and it will probably fire right up, but there may be a diesel in the future if I can find on at the right price. I will start a build thread when I get things moving. My father in law is pretty amped up about this truck so I am sure that he will help me out with the build (like he used to do when he was younger). He is so into it that my wife and I plan on giving it to him when the truck is done.

Nope, no powerstroke! I have a neighbor that has has a 6.2 out of a CUCV sitting in his garage for a while, but first I would like to see how well the 292 does because the are kind of bulletproof.

You might be losing power with the 6.2 naturally asperated they are kind of lazy

Nice score on the C30
Find an anti drainback filter for it like a wix 51060 the application says 51061 but its not anti drain back
you also should run a CF-2 type oil in a flat tappit engine CF-4 if you need multi grade

My son (65gmc630) has a similar toy

Re: Can I join your club?

Cool truck, my 65 C30 has a 292 4spd. I drove it a few miles when I moved. Don't expect to go fast, but it'll haul anything you want to. Mine is currently being used as a parking deck for my 68 Mustang, and I cant even tell it's on there when I move it around.

Re: Can I join your club?

Thanks guys for all of the great comments!

I spent a couple of hours last night pulling plugs, draining old gas, and pre-lubing the motor. That truck fired right up after about 4 seconds of cranking!

I drove it around the yard (its a big yard) and that 292 runs awesome! The brakes are a little grabby, but I think that this is the first thing that I have brought home for under $500 that I could drive within a week! My fater in law is coming by tommorow to take it for a spin and let me know what he thinks.
