My wood bed

Ok guys I'm getting to the end of my build and I need some help . I was given 5 boards of cedar for my bed but it's 16'x 10" can someone please give me the deminsions of the bed wood so I can get it cut to length any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Charles

Cedar is a very soft wood. Are you sure you want to use that.
I would sure try to find some oak or maple. good luck.

As a carpenter I had to chip in here..while cedar is very soft it is excellent for exterior exposure. I would not recommend maple for an exterior wood..and I wouldn't recommend red oak either. White oak if finished correctly works well. The mahoganies being sold now (sapele, khaya, etc..) are soft and cedar-ish so I wouldn't recommend them if hardness is desired, Ipe is very hard but not aesthetically pleasing. Certain kinds of long leaf pine or teak(though it's expensive) are other good choices for bed wood. Redwood has been relatively inexpensive at the lumberyards here recently and is what I would likely use, I'd use a marine spar varnish as the topcoat.

Here's a pic of my bed I'm finishing right now. The wood is called Lacewood , it's a Brazillion hardwood.

If I had that bed I would not use it on a truck I would hang it on my wall in my living
