Aw man!
The blazer failed emissions yesterday, ( I guess I did not study enough for it.)
LOL, but on the brite side just barely, only failed on the hydrocarbons for the load. Also they said I needed the stock aircleaner for the air return (dumb), but thats what sucks about living in phoenix. |

Re: Aw man!
Well it passed!!!!!!! after the the third time around...I dumped a gallon of alchohol in it...suckers. Get this though, after I passed the test I was comparing the test sheet to the one in 2008 when it past last, and the state changed the emmission standards. THEY MADE IT HARDER TO PASS!!!
in 2008 the test sheet passing scores went like this: HC LOAD - 3.50 HC IDLE - 4.50 CO LOAD - 3.00 CO IDLE - 3.50 now in 2010: HC LOAD - 1.50 HC IDLE - 3.50 CO LOAD - 2.00 CO IDLE - 2.50 I was so mad... in big cities they are making it harder and harder to drive these old trucks. Re: Aw man!
How far back do they test? Luckily they only go 25 years here.

Re: Aw man!
Time to move I guess. Is there a way you can have it exempted, such as licensing it as a collector vehicle?

Re: Aw man!
Shoot.. I tried to talk to the wife about buying a house up the road in another county, but it was a no go. With classic insurance I can get an exception, but it has to be worth a certain amount and as it is right now probably wont be eligible... What makes me mad the most is I would really like to do a TPI set up, but the regulations will not allow it. Even though it will run cleaner and more efficient, it has to have certain smog equipment that pertains to the original year, to pass the inspection. IT MAKES ME IRRATE!!!! so I piss and moan all the way down to the emission station and still take the shaft....

Re: Aw man!
I don't know much about the regulations, but I thought you could swap in a newer engine, but it must have all related emissions equipment that came on the vehicle the engine came from?

Re: Aw man!
up here it's about 20 years till a few back they changed the rules ,now i believe it's up to 87.....don't need an etest every two years, but stories are around town of emmission cops pulling over ppl for infractions like trucks with duals ...i've met a owner of a 78 corvette with headers and side pipes being fined as "modified "not factory".even tho she bought it like that and owned it 30 years.........but if you live 1/2 hour up the road (out of the city)any year no etests.
