Dash question????
The part of the dash where the defrost vents are, what color is that supposed to be, is it supposed to be the color of the truck or black, like say if your dashpad is black???On my orange truck, it had the white/orange/white paint and that part was black but it looked like it had orange paint dripped on it or somethin, and on any other trucks i have payed attention to, it is too dirty.any help or pics appreciated.
thanks kevin |

My truck was orignaly Yellow and White the dash area you described was a sick brown from the factory also they were not a gloss finish because that would cause a glare onto the windshield from the sun hope that info helps ! Mario

When I restored my '71 GMC; the windshield was removed ( prior to painting) and the black dash pad was removed also. Seat, gauge panel, glove box, etc were removed and other items masked before painting the interior of truck ( Code 72-Apple Red)...Exterior of truck to be painted same color.... After painting, I used contact cement and installed a piece of black crinkly type vinyl between the winshield and the dash pad, cutting the holes for the defroster outlets.....
This was done 10 years ago... and the vinyl has held up fine...and does not refelect into the winshield..............Jim

2 of the 3 trucks I have had, the dash was paintd a flat version of body color. One blue Longhorn, and one gold longhorn. The GMC has bee repainted, but apears to have had a maroon dash, just as the body was originally.
